Introduction
Recently, a new way to vape has been making waves across the vaping community: nasal vaping. At the forefront of this trend is the Nose Knows AT5000, the world's first nasal vape, which has sparked curiosity and debate among vapers globally.
While traditional mouth vaping has been the norm, this new method of vaping through the nose offers a unique sensory experience. This method is said to provide a quicker uptake of nicotine due to the dense network of olfactory nerve endings in the nasal mucosa.
In this blog, we'll delve into the differences between nose vaping and mouth vaping, and explore why this new trend is capturing attention.
What Is Nose Knows AT5000
The Nose Knows AT5000 is a disposable vape by VOZOL that features a dual-head design, allowing users to inhale through their nostrils.
It boasts a 1000mAh non-rechargeable battery and a 10ml pre-filled e-liquid capacity, delivering approximately 5000 puffs. With a nicotine strength of 2% (20mg), it offers a satisfying hit without overwhelming the senses.
However, it's important to note that this capacity does not meet TPD regulations, making it illegal in the UK.
And speaking of flavour, the Nose Knows AT5000 doesn't disappoint. From the creamy indulgence of Avocado Osmanthus to the refreshing chill of Banana Ice and the tropical sweetness of Coconut Ice, there's something to tantalize every palate. Other notable flavours include the classic Double Apple, the floral sweetness of Jasmine Rose, the comforting warmth of Latte, the cool blast of Mint Leaf, the juicy Melon Ice, the exotic blend of Rose Lychee, the ever-popular Strawberry Ice, the comforting Vanilla Custard, and the unique White Peach Sakura Ice.
Additionally, it comes with a silicone cover, which you can place over the nosepiece(a term I've coined for the part of the device that you stick in your nose, much like the mouthpiece of a traditional vape device) when you want to share your device. This allows others to safely experience nose vaping with your AT5000 without direct contact.
What is Nasal Vaping
Nasal vaping, as the name suggests, involves inhaling vaporized e-liquid through the nose instead of the mouth.
The Nose Knows AT5000 facilitates this with its unique design, which features a nozzle or mouthpiece specifically designed for nasal inhalation. It works similarly to a traditional vape, heating the e-liquid to produce vapour, but with a focus on directing that vapour towards the nostrils.
This method of inhalation offers a potentially different experience compared to traditional mouth vaping. By delivering the vapour directly to the olfactory receptors in the nose, nasal vaping could provide a more intense and immediate sensation of the flavours in the e-liquid, but it's important to note that you're primarily smelling the vapour, not tasting it in the traditional sense.
The Differences Between Nose Vaping and Mouth Vaping
Nose Vaping
- Inhalation: Vapour is inhaled directly into the nostrils.
- Flavour Perception: Primarily focused on aroma and the sensation of the vapour in the nasal passages. May not provide the same depth of flavour as mouth vaping.
- Nicotine Absorption: The efficiency of nicotine absorption through the nasal passages is not yet fully understood.
Mouth Vaping
- Inhalation: Vapour is inhaled into the mouth and lungs.
- Flavour Perception: Offers a wider range of flavour perception, including both aroma and taste.
- Nicotine Absorption: Nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream through the lungs.

How Does Flavour Work with Nose Vaping?
While nasal vaping might sound like a flavour explosion waiting to happen, the reality is a bit different. Instead of a burst of flavour on the tongue, it's more about the sensation the vapor creates in the nasal passages.
This unique delivery method could potentially offer relief for vapers who experience nasal congestion or conditions like rhinitis. The vapour, especially from menthol or mint flavours, might temporarily open up the nasal passages, making it easier to breathe.
It's important to remember that with nose vaping, you're smelling the flavour, not tasting it in the traditional sense. So, while you might enjoy the aroma of your favourite vape juice, don't expect the same depth of flavour you'd get from inhaling it into your lungs.
On a recent business trip to the US, I decided to test the Nose Knows AT5000 Watermelon Ice. The intense icy sensation was overwhelming, shocking my nose and brain, and even causing my eyes to water to the point where I felt like crying. It was so uncomfortable for me at that time and drank plenty of water to relieve.
However, there was a silver lining. After thoroughly cleaning the nosepiece and putting on the silicone cover (as I'm quite particular about hygiene), I decided to try mouth vaping with the device. To my relief, the flavour tasted no different than other watermelon ice disposable vapes I've tried. This adaptability made the experience more enjoyable and familiar.
So if you find nasal vaping uncomfortable, don't force it. You can my vape to finish the device. The vapour production and flavour will still be there, just delivered in a more familiar way.
How to Nose Vape Comfortably with the Nose Knows AT5000
Take a Slow,
Steady Breath: This is key to a comfortable experience. Don't try to inhale forcefully or quickly, as this can irritate your nasal passages. Think of it as a gentle, controlled sniff rather than a sharp inhale.
Exhale Gently: Once you've taken in a breath of vapor, gently exhale through your mouth.
Experiment with Puff Length: You can adjust the length of your puffs to find what feels most comfortable for you. Start with short puffs and gradually increase the duration as you get used to the sensation.
Conclusion
The future of nasal vaping in the UK remains uncertain. Currently, the Nose Knows AT5000, with its 20mg/ml nicotine strength and 10ml e-liquid capacity, doesn't comply with the TPD regulations.
Personally, I'm not sold on the idea. Sticking something in my nose to vape in public and then having to remove it to exhale just feels awkward. Plus, leaving nasal mucus or a "nose snack" on the nosepiece, is not appealing to me. Especially that silicone cover for sharing the AT5000 with other nose, while this is a nice thought, let's be real! Even with the silicone cover, the idea of sharing something that's been stuck in my nose with someone else nose, and then putting it back in my own nose is just too much. It's a hard pass for me!
Whether nasal vaping will become a mainstream phenomenon or fade away as a passing fad remains to be seen. We'd love to hear your thoughts on this new nasal vaping method. Are you curious about it? Is it dump thing for you?
